The town of Wilson, located on highway 22, is at
the base of Teton pass. There are several shops within the quaint town of
Wilson: Hungry Jacks general store, US Post office, Nora's fish creek inn, Bank
of Jackson Hole, Wilson Backcountry Sports, Pearl St. Bagels and of course, the world famous
Stagecoach Bar.

Being at the base of the pass
means there are great recreational opportunities right out the door. In the
Winter, Teton Pass offers easy access to phenomenal backcountry skiing. Mt.
Glory, Shivers ridge and Edelwiess bowl are just a few runs in the area that are
easily accessible from the top of the pass. You can even ski right back to the
house if you'd like. In the Summer, the pass is an epicenter for mountain
biking, road biking, hiking and paragliding. The Old Pass road is a classic ride
with NO motorized access. You can get to the old highway by traveling up the
pass and taking a left on trail creek rd, across from the old Heidelberg Hotel.
Nora's fish creek inn is one of
the most popular breakfast spots in Jackson Hole. The log cabin atmosphere
is cozy. They also dish-out a nice dinner with a mellow environment and great
entree's at a moderate price.
The Stagecoach Bar is your
classic Jackson bar with a 'mod' twist. Sunday nights feature great country
western music with
the stagecoach band featuring Bill Briggs on banjo, Bill is the first person to ski the
Grand Teton in 1971. Swing dancing is a must at this event. Thursday night is
disco night. By far the most popular bar event in Jackson. Why is disco music so
hip? Well, anyway this scene is full-on! Be prepared for polyester, wigs and
extreme drunkenness. You can walk home in 5 minutes.
Wilson Backcountry Sports is one
of the best outdoor shops in the valley. There you'll find the
best ski's,
boots, bikes, clothing and accessories around. A Perfect location if you need some
gear for the day's tour on Teton Pass. They are next door to Pearl St.
Bagels, a great place for a quick caffeine and carbo fuel-up.
Next to the house is the old
Wilson school community center and across the street is Owen-Bircher park. The
park is a great place to kick-back with a small playground, volleyball court and
rodeo ground. The rodeo
ground is often used in the summer as a practice spot
for the cowboys/cowgirls in the town rodeo. There are also a number of
equestrian events that occur there throughout the summer. In the winter it's
turned into an ice rink where you'll find various hockey teams practicing
for the big games in town or just having some fun on a cold evening. You can
also take a fun shortcut along the Wilson
Wetlands Trail leading from the park into downtown Wilson.
It's an easy drive (15 min) from
the house to
Teton Village for a day of skiing, hiking or paragliding. Continue on the
"village road" another 5 minutes and you'll enter Grand Teton National Park. A
beautiful back-road entrance into the park, passing popular day hikes into
Granite canyon and Death canyon.
